Gina Daly's Modica Forest Green kitchen
I’ve been living here since 2008. I live here with my husband and my three children. When we moved in in 2008, we had a very typical cream kitchen with oak counters. During Covid, I hand painted it myself, just to give it a little bit of a freshen up. It did the trick, but it needed to be changed. Now, I have this beautiful, Modica Forest Green kitchen.
For my new kitchen, I needed more space. I needed more counter space, presses, cupboards, things I can pull out, spice racks… and with this kitchen, I have it all! Because my old kitchen was quite dated, I wanted something sleek, something modern and I think I really got that.
I am thrilled with the results.

A green and copper colour scheme
I had initially thought that I wanted a grey kitchen. And when I walked into Cash & Carry Kitchens, I spotted the Modica in the green and I knew instantly that was the one I had to have. I chose the Modica door because it’s super stylish.
The colour scheme in the kitchen as you can see is green and copper. I originally wanted to accentuate my copper lights which I had here already so I chose copper handles, I chose counters and a backsplash that have a copper vein running through it. And I think it all works really, really well.

The new kitchen layout
The new layout of the kitchen really helps my workflow. Simple things like locating the bins beside the sink, the dishwasher beside the sink and even this peninsula here, I didn’t have that before and it’s so lovely to have the kids sitting up in the morning having a chat and having our breakfast.

The Quooker boiling water tap
It’s very, very hard to choose just one thing that I like the most in this kitchen. I have to say though that the Quooker tap, which was something I was kind of on the fence about, I didn’t know if I necessarily needed it, but it’s definitely something I don’t think I could live without now. It means I have no kettle on my counter. It’s so quick and easy for a cup of tea. I’m not flicking the switch of the kettle a hundred times a day. It is amazing.

Two integrated spice racks
One of my favourite features in the kitchen is my spice rack, which was an absolute necessity. And now I have two!
The spice rack is super practical because I can organise everything in a row and I can actually find my spices now and they’re not necessarily from 2017.
Integrated appliances
I also love the new location of my oven. It used to be under my hob and now it’s at eye level which is just fantastic.
I’m loving the integrated appliances, they’re so sleek, they’re so uniform and they fit in so well into the kitchen.

Extractor fan
When I spotted my extractor fan for the first time, I literally fell in love. I needed to have it. It’s so sleek the design is incredible and the light from it is absolutely beautiful.

Wine cooler
I’ve always wanted to own a wine cooler. And now I have one, I feel so fancy. But it’s also freed up lots of space in my fridge. I can put my drinks and all my bits and pieces in it and it’s just brilliant. And the other handy thing about the wine cooler is that you can actually change the temperature from the top half to the bottom half so you can have your really cold drinks on the bottom and slightly warmer on the top.

Corner storage
I used to have a lot of corner presses. They were black holes. Everything went in and nothing came out. And now I have Le Mans corner units which save my back and things actually come out of them now.

Integrated bins
The integrated bins are fantastic because they are hidden away and I can also just slide anything I’ve chopped into the bin and it’s easy to separate waste from recycling.

Gina's final verdict
The kitchen is the heart of our home. We spend all our time here. Before, I didn’t have the space to entertain, to have people over and when I did it was really, really crowded. Now, I have a huge peninsula where I can fit loads of people around and it just works, really really well for me. Now, I won’t be able to get people away from my house.
