A dream kitchen

Lisa and John live in Clondalkin in South-West Dublin with seven of their nine children. Their home is a modest three-bed terraced house. Before the Home Rescue team arrived it was cluttered and not in the least bit functional. Dee Coleman opted for a two-tone Augusta kitchen in white and midnight blue. This versatile kitchen is part of Cash & Carry Kitchens' Modern Heritage collection. It's practical, warm and full of heart — exactly what the couple wanted! "This just looks like a showroom. It’s absolutely fantastic", says John.

The kitchen was topped off with an LE Halifax Oak worktop. The 38mm countertop with a weathered oak wood effect and rustic veins works beautifully with the shaker-style door.

The details

The entire kitchen is built around the peninsula. Dee describes it as "pivotal" to the design. "John and Lisa needed to be able to cook from scratch for their family. That’s very important", Dee elaborates. "So, what we wanted to do was give them this whole area where they were able to cook the food here, put the plates there and then the people who are dining just over there on the bench would be able to collect it themselves". The peninsula also includes smart storage features like a spice rack and deep drawers. All of the appliances are from Normende. The double oven and induction hob are integrated into the peninsula too, while the integrated tall freezer and tall larder fridge are located behind. The washing machine and condeser dryer are stacked next to them. Meanwhile, the integrated dishwasher is located beneath the Franke Ascona Single Bowl Sink and Arti Chrome Tap.

The finishing touches

Lisa and John wanted a kitchen that would help bring the family together. Thanks to these finishing touches, that's what they got. The dark grey colour of the Pewter 92 cup handles and Petwer 91 knobs contrasts wonderfully with the neutral white tones of the Augusta kitchen. Meanwhile, the lighting kits beneath the overhead units improve visibility when preparing food while also turning the area into a focal point. There are more storage surprises to be found inside the kitchen including the chrome baskets and the storage built-in to the bench plus the cupboards located overhead.
