From an Outdated Kitchen to a Forever Home

Amy and Luke live in Ballybrack with their two children, Summer and Beau James. Their home once belonged to Luke’s late mother, making it difficult for the couple to put their own stamp on it. The biggest challenge? The kitchen.

The original kitchen was cramped, short on storage, and didn’t reflect their family’s style. With help from designer Deirdre Coleman and Cash & Carry Kitchens’ expert designer Dee Morrissey, the couple transformed their kitchen from cluttered and impractical into a warm, modern space they could proudly call their own.

Their old kitchen was poorly laid out with limited storage

The Kitchen Design: Augusta Two-Tone in White and Light Grey

Based on Amy and Luke’s wishlist, Dee chose the Augusta two-tone kitchen in white and light grey, from the Modern Heritage collection. at Cash & Carry Kitchens. This design is practical, full of character, and perfectly suited to family living.

It’s more than what I ever expected,” says Luke.
There’s enough character. It’s unreal,” adds Amy.

Smart Storage Solutions for a Family Kitchen

When asked about the main challenge, Dee Coleman was clear: “The issues in the kitchen were storage… and storage and storage!”

To solve this, the new design includes:

  • Floor-to-ceiling units with a clever utility cupboard concealing the boiler and storing art supplies.

  • Deep drawers perfect for pots and pans.

  • A spice rack and slim storage beside the hob.

  • Le Mans corner storage and integrated bins to reduce clutter.

  • Tall 900mm units for maximum storage up to the ceiling.

The result? A tidy, organised kitchen with “a place for everything.”

Appliances Designed for Family Life

The appliances were chosen with practicality in mind:

  • Built-in double oven for hearty family meals.

  • Integrated microwave to free up worktop space.

  • Induction hob placed near the ovens and prep area.

Together, these choices created a highly efficient cooking zone with easy flow from prep to sink to hob.

The Finished Kitchen: A Dream Come True

At the start, Dee wanted to create a light, airy kitchen that Amy and Luke could be proud of. The final result delivered exactly that.

“Now, everything is hidden. Bar Amy’s one true love, her coffee machine, everything else is hidden. And I love it,” says Luke.

For Amy, the kitchen transformation is nothing short of life-changing:

“It’s just a dream come true.”
