Deirdre and Steve's kitchen
Deirdre Spelman lives with her husband Steve in the heart of Galway city. They wanted a kitchen where they could cook and spend time together and a space where they could entertain their loved ones.
Deirdre explains "I love cooking and, we both love entertaining and love having visitors." It was very important for them to create a space that made this possible.
Deirdre shows us her favourite features
The Augusta Midnight Blue Kitchen
Deirdre tells us that they had originally wanted a paler colour but having seen the Augusta Midnight Blue and considering the size and brightness of their space, they realised their kitchen could take a darker colour.
An island was a must when deciding on the kitchen design "It was really important to us to have the island and that we could work from both sides of the island to get maximum use out of the space." Deirdre explains.

Designing the Kitchen Space
Deirdre and Steve wanted a space that they could easily navigate especially when cooking and entertaining. The double oven was recommended by their designer and they're really happy with it "The stacked oven gives us height, they're eye level, which is very helpful when you're cooking. We're not having to bend down low onto the floor to lift stuff from the oven." Deirdre tells us.
The Prestige Larder is a firm favourite, "We love our larder. We use it as a cocktail bar which is a wow factor for our friends." Deirdre says.

Finishing Touches
When creating their dream kitchen, Deirdre and Steve considered the perfect finishing touches to bring the space to life.
Something that Steve wanted to incorporate into the kitchen was a Lighting Kit for the cabinets. "It was my husband's choice to have the under cabinet lighting and we love the softness of it, especially in the evening. It lights up the cabinets beautifully." Deirdre tells us.
Deirdre and Steve chose Arno Brass and Brass Cup handles "We thought it stood out more with the midnight blue colour and gives it that feeling of luxury." she explains.

The Galway Showroom
Deirdre and Steve visited the Cash & Carry Kitchens showroom in Galway where they worked with expert designer Joan Dolan. "We went to the Galway showroom and worked with Joan, who we found extremely helpful." says Deirdre. "She made recommendations, we went back and changed stuff, nothing was too much for her."
Deirdre and Steve said that they had a great experience in Cash & Carry Kitchens Galway. "The showroom had a very good layout, and they had everything available in stock to show us." she tells us.

The end result
Joan helped to design a kitchen where Deirdre and Steve could cook and socialise. "The kitchen works for us, we cook every day. I love cooking and, we both love entertaining and love having visitors" Deirdre explains.
"The flow of the kitchen works well. It works well for entertaining for food or just having friends around for drinks." Deirdre finishes.
