Charity Partnership: A new kitchen for Galway Simon Community

A new Augusta Graphite kitchen transforms a Galway Simon Community home, bringing comfort, dignity and easy living through our "Helping Homes" charity partnership with Simon Communities of Ireland.

From Worn and Tired to Bright and Functional

In 2025, as part of our Helping Homes Charity Partnership, we designed, manufactured and installed an August Graphite kitchen in a Galway Simon Community house shared by three residents. This residence is part of the Community Based Housing service that Galway Simon Community provides, offering transitional accommodation and the support of a key worker to help find pathways to housing.

Before the installation, the existing kitchen had served its purpose but was clearly showing its age. Residents described it as ‘run down’, difficult to clean and awkward to use. Appliances were outdated, storage was limited, and everyday tasks took more effort than they should.

A Practical Kitchen Designed for Shared Living

Designed by Gerry Murray in our Galway showroom, the new Augusta Graphite kitchen, has completely transformed how the residents use and feel about their home.

Chosen for its modern design, durability and ease of maintenance, this kitchen was particularly well suited to a shared living environment. Key benefits highlighted by residents include:

  • Easy-to-clean worktops that stay bright and wipe clean with minimal effort

  • A high-performance cooker that heats quickly, is simple to use and safer for everyday cooking

  • Smart storage solutions, ensuring each resident has their own space

  • A built-in fridge, saving floor space and keeping the kitchen uncluttered

One resident shared that the kitchen now ‘invites you to spend more time there’  a simple but powerful reflection of how thoughtful design can change daily life.

A Space to Feel Proud Of

Beyond practicality, the emotional impact of the new kitchen has been just as important.

Another resident spoke about how the upgrade has changed how they feel when welcoming visitors. Where there was once embarrassment, there is now pride. The kitchen looks modern, clean and cared for and that sense of dignity matters.

Even for those who don’t cook often, having a tidy, organised and attractive kitchen makes the entire house feel calmer, more settled and more like home.

Supporting Homes, Not Just Houses

This Galway project is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting Simon Communities across Ireland through our "Helping Homes" charity partnership.

At Cash & Carry Kitchens, we believe everyone deserves a kitchen that works; one that supports independence, wellbeing and everyday comfort. Through Helping Homes, we’re proud to use our expertise to make a meaningful difference where it matters most.

Looking Ahead

This kitchen may be just one room in one house, but for the people living there, it represents ease, dignity and a fresh start. And that’s exactly why projects like this matter.

It is our fourth kitchen donation to the Simon Communities of Ireland and we are excited to continue the partnership.
