Charity Partnership: Our Kitchen Donation to Mid West Simon Communities
The latest kitchen donated as part of our "Helping Homes" charity partnership, was designed and fitted especially for Mid West Simon Communities.
Creating Space for Connection
At Cash & Carry Kitchens, we believe in the power of home, not just as a place, but as a feeling. That’s why we’re proud to continue our charity partnership with the Simon Communities of Ireland, supporting their vital work in advocating for people experiencing homelessness across the country.

A Space in Need of Change
In May 2025, we had the opportunity to support a Simon Community residential centre in Ennis, which provides accommodation for up to 21 people. The existing kitchen in the centre was no longer fit for purpose, it was outdated, lacked adequate storage, and had no space for communal cooking or dining.
It wasn’t just a functional issue; the lack of a proper kitchen was affecting the residents’ ability to cook for themselves or spend time together, both key elements in creating a sense of stability, community and independence.
“Spaces like this allow people to feel part of something. It brings a bit of normality back into their lives.”
– Eleshia Fahy, Simon Communities of Ireland

A Thoughtful Kitchen Transformation
The Mid West Simon Communities team visited our Limerick Showroom where expert designer Sinead Coloe designed a brand new kitchen tailored to the needs of the centre and its residents. They chose our Oslo Sage green kitchen for its warm, modern style and practical layout.
The new kitchen features:
- Two hobs
- Two integrated ovens
- A large central island with integrated storage and ample seating
- A repurposed utility room turned into individual food cupboards for each resident
Every element of the design was chosen with a purpose, to maximise space, encourage social interaction, and restore a sense of comfort and dignity to the people living there.
Double ovens make it easier for residents to cook together
More Than Just a Kitchen
Since its installation, the new kitchen has had a hugely positive effect on daily life in the centre. It has become a social hub, where residents cook and eat together, share meals, and support one another.
“All the residents now congregate here. They cook together and socialise here.”
– Paul O’Sullivan, Simon Communities of Ireland
By creating a welcoming, functional space, we’ve helped turn the kitchen into what it should be: a place of connection, nourishment and community.
Each resident has their own cupboard for storage.
A Continued Commitment
We’re honoured to play a part in the Simon Communities of Ireland’s incredible work and remain committed to supporting their mission to end homelessness. This project in Ennis is just one example of how practical support, like a new kitchen, can have a lasting impact on people’s lives.
"It’s creating a really happy place and safe environment here"
