A dream kitchen
Dublin Bus scheduler Gavin shares a house with his mother Sharon in Dunboyne, Co. Meath. They've lived there since he was a teenager. Very little has changed in the house over the last 20 years and the kitchen is not fit for purpose. Dee Coleman was challenged to create a bright space that was accessible without feeling clinical. She opted for a Modica Forest Green kitchen. This on-trend kitchen is part of Cash & Carry Kitchens' Contemporary collection. The kitchen was topped off with a Canova worktop. The 28mm countertop with a gloss white marble effect works beautifully with the Modica's sleek lines and matt finish.

The details
Due to Sharon's mobility issues, accessibility was the top priority. To help with this, the layout was completely revamped. Dee also introduced small details like placing the Arti chrome tap and white Sona 5S single bowl sink behind everything, so that the dishes were out of the way. Appliances played a key role in allowing the kitchen to serve everyone's needs. They included a Faber Thea extractor with a wooden frame, an integrated dishwasher, a double oven, a ceramic hob, an integrated microwave and a 70/30 integrated fridge. Aside from the extractor, the other appliances were all Normende. There are also some storage solutions like the spice rack. The peninsula is perhaps the kitchen's most striking feature. Dee tells us all about it: "This peninsula is a standard unit depth but it also has an extra 300 mm serving a dual purpose. You can get bar stools under here. This makes it a very social seating area, but it also allows for a deeper space for prepping".

The finishing touches
Sharon and Gavin wanted a kitchen that was practical without feeling clinical. Thanks to these finishing touches, that's what they got. The Arno brass 93 handles beautifully complement the Forest Green tones of the Modica kitchen. Meanwhile, there are more storage surprises to be found inside the kitchen including Le Mans corner storage and integrated bins.
