Jennifer Carroll's Dereham Taupe kitchen

Myself and my 9-year-old son Carter have just moved into the house and we're almost finished renovations.

The kitchen, for me, is probably the room that's most used in the house. I'm a food content creator, so I love to be in the kitchen cooking. I really wanted a lot of countertop space, lots of light and I wanted it to feel like a nice classic, contemporary kitchen.

I chose the Dereham Taupe because it's a lovely, warm neutral colour and creates that cosy and calm feel I was looking for. The Dereham style was perfect because it has that classic look that I love but it's contemporary too.

I'm so happy with the results.

The bi-fold unit

The bi-fold unit is one of my favourite features in the kitchen. That's something that I think is really unique. Everybody compliments it. It's brilliant for storage if you don't want to have air fryers, kettles, toasters on your counter top. You can hide them away in the bi-fold unit. I've made myself a lovely little coffee station in there.

The Chloe hood

I also love the Chloe hood. That was one of the first things I chose when designing the kitchen. I think it's a really special piece because it brings that classic, antique feel into the kitchen. The brass accessories tied in with the Chloe hood. I do love modern, but I also really like classic. I went for the long, textured door handles because I think they stand out in the kitchen.

The Belfast sink

I chose the Belfast sink because it's a feature I've always wanted in the kitchen. The brushed brass tap really makes it pop even more. I have a lovely view of the Dublin mountains. I wanted to be able to capture that view when I'm at the sink. We did that really well.

Integrated appliances

The integrated features are brilliant because I almost have a small utility room hidden away. It means I have so much more room in the kitchen itself. I have a lot more cupboards and drawers. The integrated fridge just makes the kitchen look a lot more uniform and cosy.

Extra Kitchen Storage

The Le Mans corner storage unit is brilliant because I have so many pots and pans. It's a great way to keep them tidy, but you can still access them so easily. The integrated bins were another part of the design process that was so simple but added so much because it meant I could save space in the small kitchen.

The kitchen design process

I designed my kitchen with Dave Walker from the Longmile Road Cash & Carry Kitchens showroom. When we first began the process, I went in with a completely different idea. He really listened to me and he was very honest about things I might change my mind on. He was so patient and helpful. The whole process with Cash & Carry Kitchens has been incredible. I have been doing the entire house up. So, having the kitchen designed by Cash & Carry Kitchens took a lot of the weight off. It was something I didn't have to focus too much on because I knew the experts were looking after that.

Jennifer's final verdict

I spend so much time in the kitchen with my son. It's really become the heart of the house. After school doing homework, in the evenings cooking or just baking stuff together. The new kitchen is a much more inviting space now. I look forward to inviting people over. It's my favourite room in the whole house and every time I walk in it puts a massive smile on my face.
