How Kylie created a sleek and modern kitchen that was bright and airy with plenty of storage

Kylie recently moved into her home. The kitchen is part of a new extension which was built within the last 12 months. This gave her a clean slate to come up with something fresh for the house. She began her search online before deciding to visit the Cash & Carry Kitchens showroom in Sandyford, Dublin. Kylie talks us through the process from her first design appointment right through to the finished product.

The design process
Cash & Carry Kitchens has 17 showrooms all over Ireland. Since she's based in Harold's Cross, Kylie opted to go to our Sandyford location in Dublin. There she met with our designer Aaron Sheridan. "Working with Aaron was fantastic", Kylie tells us. "My house was still under construction when I started the process of designing the kitchen. Needless to say, there were some hiccups along the way which Aaron was fantastic in adapting to and helping me to achieve what I wanted to achieve. I really enjoyed the process".

Kylie's wish list
Kylie explains that the kitchen in her previous house was really small and tight for space. Therefore, having plenty of counter space and storage were very important for her. "I think we’ve really achieved that with the kitchen here", she says. This was enabled by the use of some clever design features, including the Le Mans corner storage shelves.

Style
Kylie elaborates on what she wanted in terms of style and décor. "When I bought the house there was quite a traditional kitchen here. I really wanted to go for something sleek, something modern and something that would really go with the bright and airy feel of this new room that we added to the house". She adds that "I really wanted to put my unique stamp on the house. I feel like the kitchen is something quite unusual and has been made really bespoke to me".

Faber Chloe Extractor and Studio Shelves
Kylie is a fan of the industrial-style vibes created by the combination of the Faber Chloe Extractor and our Studio Shelves. "I do think this space here with the brass extractor fan and the shelving unit is my favourite part of the kitchen, " she tells us. "It’s really unusual and it’s a great feature for the room".

Prestige Larder
Kylie's favourite feature in the kitchen is the Prestige Larder. "I really love the pantry space which Aaron helped me design", she reveals. "It’s fantastic for storage. It’s something a bit modern and fresh. It really does allow me to hide a multitude in there".

Bright and airy
Kylie says that she's delighted with the outcome of the kitchen, adding that it fulfils all the things she wanted to achieve. She loves the design. "I think it’s really fresh and modern. This room has such a bright and airy feel". She explains that "I really didn’t want to fill the room with lots of presses and to take away from the bright and airy vibe overall. I wanted to try and avoid having presses the whole way along the wall on the back wall of the kitchen. Aaron gave me that bright, airy feel while still achieving lots of storage".

Installation
Kylie shares a little about the installation process. "When I was building this kitchen I was on a very short timeline to move into the house. I have to say Cash & Carry Kitchens were fantastic in accommodating me. I didn’t leave them much wiggle room in terms of getting the kitchen installed and fitted but they were absolutely phenomenal and delivered on time".
"When I started dealing with my house renovations, I followed lots of kitchen and construction companies on Instagram. This Modica Forest Green kitchen was one of the first ones I came across on the Cash & Carry Kitchens website. I fell in love with it instantly. I love the bold colours, the sleek design, but also the fact that it felt really fresh and modern".

A social space
Kylie is impressed by how spacious the kitchen is and how its design makes it perfect for entertaining. "It’s great for hosting because if people are at the dining table you can be cooking and preparing and still be part of the conversation and fun". She adds that "I definitely find I enjoy cooking here an awful lot more. Hosting friends and family for meals and for drinks is a really important part of this kitchen. There have been plenty of fantastic occasions in this kitchen already and, hopefully, there’ll be plenty more".
